Thornhill Trojans continued their momentum towards promotion from National Conference League Division One with victory over Featherstone Lions.

Thornhill led 22-6 at the break and added three more tries in the second half to emerge 38-18 winners.

Try scorers for the hosts were Joel Gibson, Sam Ratcliffe, Ryan Fenton, Jake Wilson, George Woodcock, Liam Morley and Zach Johnson.

Joel Gibson kicked five goals.

Meanwhile, Shaw Cross Sharks’ hopes of avoiding relegation suffered a blow following a 44-8 home defeat to Oulton Raiders.

Sharks scored tries through former Ram Shaun Squires and Sam Ottewell, but the efforts were in vain as the visitors ran out comfortable winners.

The result leaves Shaw Cross second bottom with five games to play.

In Division Two, Dewsbury Moor were 54-12 winners against Saddleworth Rangers. The win keeps Moor in touch at the top of the table.

While in Division Three, Dewsbury Celtic showed plenty of spirit in a 40-6 defeat away at league leaders Beverley. Danny Thomas was Celtic’s try-scorer.

The visitors were backed by a big following who travelled across for the televised fixture.
