Grassroots: Sharks secure vital win, victories for Thornhill and Celtic

Shaw Cross Sharks hauled themselves out of the relegation zone in National Conference League Division One with victory over Bradford Dudley Hill.

The Sharks led 24-0 at half-time and ran out 36-18 winners thanks to tries from Thomas Stuckey and Shaun Squires, who both scored two, Nathan Wright and Ross Roebuck.

Squires kicked six goals.

Meanwhile, Thornhill Trojans’ promotion charge continued with a 52-10 win away at Ince Rose Bridge.

Will Gledhill and Danny Ratcliffe both grabbed try doubles, while Jack Gledhill, Jake Wilson, Ryan Fenton, Casey Johnson and Sam Ratcliffe also crossed the line.

Joel Gibson kicked eight goals.

In Division Two, Dewsbury Moor suffered a 22-20 defeat away at Drighlington.

The Maroons fell just short despite tries from George Croisdale, Aiden Ineson, Thomas Kaye and Dom Horn.

Ineson kicked two goals.

Finally, in Division Three, Dewsbury Celtic were 26-17 winners at home to Clock Face Miners.

Celtic scored tries through Pat Foulstone, Nathan Waring, Joe Edwards, Ethan Ferry and Anthony Dunford to maintain their promotion push.

Pat Foulstone added three goals.
