Grassroots: Thornhill’s momentum continues, wins for Moor and Celtic

Thornhill Trojans moved a step closer to securing promotion out of National Conference League Division One with a resounding victory away at Skirlaugh.

The Trojans trailed 24-20 at the interval, but scored 32 unanswered points after the break.

Ryan Fenton scored a hat-trick and Danny Ratcliffe grabbed a brace, while Jake Wilson, Andrew Lambert, Zach Johnson and George Woodcock also grabbed tries.

Woodcock kicked three goals and Joel Gibson kicked five.

Elsewhere in the division, Shaw Cross Sharks suffered a 44-0 defeat away at Leigh Miners Rangers.

But there were more positive results for our town’s sides in Divisions Two and Three.

In Division Two, Dewsbury Moor edged a keenly contested clash at Maroon Park by 30 points to 22, while in Division Three, Dewsbury Celtic were resounding winners against Salford City Roosters.

Danny Thomas and Sam Tattersfield scored braces, while Pat Foulstone, James Walker, Nathan Waring, Paul Foulstone, Dominic Senior, Thomas Norris and Billy Yarrow also crossed the line.

Pat Foulstone kicked three goals, while Paul Foulstone and Waring also added conversions.
