Grassroots: Trojans too strong for Sharks, Moor beaten at home

Thornhill Trojans continued their strong run at the top of the National Conference League Division One table with a 40-18 win against Shaw Cross Sharks.

Ash Berry, Nathan Wright and Dec Naughton scored tries for the visitors, and Ryan Chalkley added three conversions, as the Sharks produced a much-improved display following the heavy defeat they suffered when the two sides met earlier in the year.

But the Trojans were good value for their win and posted tries through George Woodcock, who scored two, Will Gledhill, George Scott, Casey Johnson, Martyn Holland and Zach Johnson.

Joel Gibson kicked six conversions.

In Division Two, Dewsbury Moor were beaten 21-10 at home to Askam.

George Croisdale and Jordan Foster were the try scorers for the Maroons, and Aiden Ineson added a conversion, but their Cumbrian visitors had enough to take the spoils.

In Division Three, Dewsbury Celtic were awarded a 63-9 victory over Stanley Rangers, following the Wakefield club’s withdrawal from the NCL.
