Shaw Cross Sharks assistant coach Wayne Stead has hailed the effort of the players following Saturday’s 11-10 win over Featherstone Lions.

The win ends a seven-match losing streak.

“I think we’ve been through a lot of adversity recently, but here we showed up for each other,” he told the Sharks website.

“I think the difference was we put an 80 minute performance in instead of playing in fits and starts.

“We knew that if we put a complete performance in then it would come together. We defended our line really strongly and stuck together as a team and as a unit.

“It’s always hard when you’re losing continuously, week after week, to have a belief that you can turn out a win,” Stead added,  “but hopefully this is a platform, not only for more wins but for better performances, which is the main thing.”
