Shaw Cross Sharks head coach Paul March has backed his players to turn the team’s fortunes around, following an improved performance in defeat to Dudley Hill at the weekend.

March has taken over first team matters following the departure of Zach Johnson earlier in the season.

And the former Super League star is confident that there are brighter weeks ahead following a difficult run of form.

“We’ve got a senior group trying to keep morale up there in games.  It takes its toll a bit when you’re stood behind your sticks but I think we’ll come through it,” March told the Sharks website.

“We’ve got a lot of young lads and we just need to direct them in the right way. We’ll have a look at the video from Saturday and see if I can put some things right.”

March praised his players for their commitment to the cause so far this season.

“They’re here putting the shirt on for the club and that’s all you can ask of them, and it’s up to me to coach these little errors out of them.

“It’s about preparation, the lads know that we’ve got to prepare well.

“We’re getting good numbers to training on a Tuesday, but not getting the same numbers on a Thursday, so if we can get everyone together and train together I think we can start putting things right.”

The Sharks return to National Conference League Division One action on Saturday, when Featherstone Lions will be the visitors.
