MATCH REPORT- Broncos 64-6 Rams

Dewsbury Rams were heavily defeat last Saturday as they lost 64-6 to the London Broncos at the Trailfinders Sports Ground.

The Rams started positively and nearly went ahead in the first few minutes when Dale Morton headed to the line with a great move. However he was sent into touch at the vital moment to deny the visitors an early lead.

Dewsbury had another chance to take the lead on the 14th minute when a high tackle by the Broncos was penalized and Rams decided to kick for two points. It was James Glover who took the kick, and he missed to keep the score at 0-0.

Up until the 20th minute the Rams had been the better side, however it was the home side who took the lead when Jay Pitts span his man at the post to plant the ball down. Jarrod Sammut converted the kick to send London 6-0 up.

It was again the Rams who were applying all the pressure for the next ten minutes, but unfortunately they just couldn’t get the ball over the whitewash, despite coming close on numerous occasions.

As with before it was the home side who scored against the run of play on the 31st minute. A knock on from Kyle Trout close to the Broncos try line was then pounced on by the home side who then broke to score their second try of the afternoon. Sammut again kicked the conversion to take the score to 12-0.

The Broncos scored their third try when Matt Davis crashed over the line on the 37th minute, Sammut converted for a third time to put the score at 18-0.

Sammut grabbed his second try of the day just before halftime, he also converted to take the score into the interval at 24-0.

The second half started at a frantic pace with both sides really going for it, however it was the home side who would land the first blow of the second period. Ben Evans scored from an unorthodox position and Sammut added the extra’s to take the score to 30-0.

Two more tries were added in quick succession first Will Lovell scored in the 53rd minute, and then Rhys Williams planted the ball over the whitewash in the 56th minute. Sammut converted both kicks to take the score to 42-0. Williams added another try and his second of the day on the 61st minute, Sammut missed his kick this time putting the score at 46-0.

The Rams got their one and only try on the 67th minute, when Danny Ansell crashed over the line. James Glover converted to add the extra’s and put the score to 46-6 on the day.

Three further tries were added to the scoreline, with Elliot Kear, Matt Davis and Jarrod Sammut all crossing the line in the final ten minutes for the Broncos. Sammut converted all three kicks to put the final score at 64-6.

The defeat leaves the Rams eighth in Betfred Championship and they will be going up against Rochdale Hornets this coming Sunday at The Tetely’s Stadium.
