Featherstone Rovers 46-18 Dewsbury Rams

It was a difficult day for the Rams who put in a brave first half display but were ultimately undone by a good Featherstone side in the second half.

The Rams got off to a great start when Jode Sheriffe forced the ball over the whitewash in the 9th minute. Paul Sykes converted the extra’s to take the score to 6-0.

The visitors continued to apply good pressure, however it was the home side who scored the next points. Connor Farrell found a gap in the Rams defence and went over for an easy try. Ridyard converted his kick to put the sides level.

Then the Rams re-took the lead through Aaron Brown who showed terrific strength to score a superb try on the 21st minute. Sykes again converted to make the score 6-12.

It wasn’t long until Featherstone were back in the game. A simple try from Connor Farrell put the home side up to 10-12. Ridyard this time couldn’t convert his kick.

On the 31st minute Macauley Hallett dived over the line to put the Rams in front again. Sykes converted to put the score at 10-18.

Featherstone then scored two tries before half time. One from Matty Wildie and one from Harry Newman. Ridyard converted both to bring the half time score to 22-18.

It was the visitors who started the second half the better. Wildie once again went over the whitewash only a minute after the break. Ridyard converted to make the score 28-18.

The home side strengthened their lead when Wildie went over for his hat-trick in the 62nd minute. Once again bypassing a static Rams defence to score. Ridyard converted to make the score 34-18.

Featherstone started to dominate the game, and four minutes after Wildie completed his hat-trick Luke Briscoe scored a try. Briscoe going over in the right corner to score. Ridyard converted to put the score up to 40-18.

Newman scored his second try of the afternoon for the home team on the 69th minute to cement the win.

The Rams will look to bounce back next week against Toronto at home.
