Rams chairman Mark Sawyer has provided comment on the club’s recent increased investment in marketing as well as the strategy for promoting the Toronto match.

“Income is paramount, as we all know, and with that in mind we have decided to put some extra resources into our marketing, with the addition of Steven Downes as the club’s media manager,” he said.

“Steven is now based in the office and I think that is particularly important at this moment in time, and you will hopefully see some change.

“Our media team has done a fantastic job for us, but they are volunteers with their own full-time jobs and careers, and it needs more than that at the moment.”

The Rams face Toronto Wolfpack on Sunday 15th April and the club will be working hard to promote the fixture.

“We want to try to have a good push at getting some new faces to see what is certain to be a cracking game of rugby league,” said Sawyer.

“York last season and Halifax this season have both shown that this is a lot of interest in seeing Toronto play and we need to capitalise on that interest.

“Further details on everything will start to appear shortly.

“We do run a very tight ship from a marketing and administrative perspective, but hopefully the steps we are taking will help us to become more pro-active as a club.”
